After School Program
Director: Renee Anderson

The mission of the Thompsonville First Baptist Church, After School Program is to give the children of our community a safe and comfortable place to learn, engage and enjoy the opportunities set forth by our volunteers, all while spreading the word of God.  We offer tutoring, reading hour, recreation, crafts, life experiences and a snack for all who attend.  Community members have stepped up and offered their skills in cooking, sewing, gardening wood crafts and other areas as the life experiences in the program. The program is run by volunteers, who have all been screened and who have all consented to and passed a background check.  This is a free service for the families whose children attend the Thompsonville Community School District in grades K-8.  Our school district recently had to cut the "latch key" program that the children had attended in previous years.  Many volunteers have come forward from high school students to grandparents to help with the after school program.  We are a small community in economic hard times and are trying to fill a gap for working parents, as well as any other parents whose children will benefit from the program.

Our program runs Monday-Thursday from 3:00-5:30, excluding holidays and in-service days.  Parents will be given plenty of notice if the program needs to be closed for a special reason.
